Skrillex

Don’t Get Too Close

STURDY got in touch with us to help them bring one of Skrillex’s newest albums, “Don’t Get Too Close” to life.

We worked closely with their creative team to develop a music video for YouTube, as well as visualizers for music streaming platforms.

Taking Skrillex’s hedgehog mascot (character design by Jack Donoghue and Mickael Lelièvre), our animation team gave feeling, personality and emotion to this cute but dangerous little creature. By matching the album art aesthetic, our lighting team kept with the style that was developed previously to ensure everything stayed cohesive throughout.

Behind the scenes

Here is a couple of videos showing what our character looks like in rig form compared to final render. The colorful shapes surrounding the character are used as controllers for our animators to be able to modify it’s poses.

The spikes are multi-colored for us to have a clearer view of where they might be crashing into the floor or other parts of the character.
